Dental Veneers Done the Right Way!

 In Dental 359 Blog

When considering dental veneers it is imperative to do your research.
With different versions of veneers on the market and many Dental providers to choose from- How do you know who to trust with your investment?

Read below for everything you should know before committing to veneers and more!

What are veneers?
Veneers are a thin layer of porcelain placed over a tooth to improve the aesthetics and function of a tooth. Porcelain veneers require minimal preparation of the tooth ensuring preservation of the natural tooth structure; they will enhance the appearance of your smile whether you simply want to change a single tooth or want a complete Smile Makeover.

Some Dentists may recommend restoring the tooth with a layer of Composite Resin, which is a cheaper alternative to porcelain, however porcelain is a superior material in terms of strength, quality, aesthetics and longevity. Composite veneers can dull and stain over time and will require more frequent replacement, making them less cost effective in the long run.

Reasons why you may consider Veneers

  • Gaps between teeth
  • Cracked or chipped teeth
  • Worn teeth
  • Teeth that are too small or too large
  • Poorly shaped teeth
  • Permanently stained teeth
  • Badly positioned teeth

Our process of Veneers here at Dental 359

Your initial visit to our clinic will be a comprehensive consultation where you can discuss any concerns, what you would like to achieve as an end result and what options are available to you.
Following this you will see our Hygienist to assess your gum health, perform a scale and clean and take impressions of your current teeth. This allows us to then create a treatment plan, tailored to your individual needs, along with an opportunity to review what your final result will look like with a wax mock up from our lab.

Once satisfied and happy with the end result, the first of two appointments will commence.

The first appointment will include the preparation of the tooth, which involves shaping the tooth ever so slightly and an impression for our lab to manufacture the final veneer. A temporary provisional veneer will be placed to the prepared tooth. Once the lab returns your veneers, generally within 10 days, the temporary veneers are removed and the permanent cemented to the teeth individually. Giving you the smile you have always dreamed of!

Be Cautious and do your research!

Don’t be fooled by ‘’no-preparation veneers’’ which lack in strength and aren’t placed individually, making cleaning difficult and can lead to leaking veneers. When veneers are placed individually it allows the Dentist to have full control ensuring a pristine finish.

Check your dentist is qualified and experienced and if in doubt, seek a second opinion.

Here are two patients of Dr Hooman Golestani’s. After careful planning and meticulous preparation they have both achieved a lovely, natural result. The possibilities are endless when you work with a highly skilled dental practitioner.
