All-on-4® and Dental Implants

What’s the difference between single, multiple dental implants and our All-On-4?

If you have been told you require dental implants and have been looking into treatment- this is the article for you!

Firstly, let’s begin with some of the reasons a patient may require an implant.

  • Replace missing tooth/teeth (prevents movement)
  • To help with chewing
  • Aesthetics
  • Prevent bone loss

Single implants

Following the loss of a tooth – whether that be due to decay, trauma or severe gingivitis a single implant is placed to fill the space.

A single implant is placed into the jawbone at the site of the missing tooth.
Once the bone and gum fuse together a crown is fixed to the top of the implant post which, fills the space between the teeth.

Multiple implants
When there has been loss of multiple teeth, there is no need to place single implants for each one missing- As you can imagine the costs would add up very quickly if this was the case!
Rather, implants can be placed as the supporting fixture for a bridge (that replaces multiple teeth).

All-On-4®

All-on-4® is a revolutionary approach which allows the total oral rehabilitation of patients with the placement of only 4 titanium dental implants in each jaw, through a quick and minimally invasive procedure. The Implants act as a foundation for the bridge, which allows the placement of a fixed set of teeth similar to natural teeth.   The All-on-4® allows even those patients with virtually no bone to have fixed teeth without the need for bone grafting. The result is a fixed (non-removable) natural looking dentition, indistinguishable from natural teeth.
